Are you thinking about how to grow your own herbs, or small vegetable garden? If, like me, you have tried in the past and watched the green vegetables, day after day, waiting to pick them when they are ripe…then one day you come out to discover – they’re gone! That was it for me.
This year I decided to give another go. I thought, “just do herbs first and see how it goes”. So here’s my story:
I love fresh herbs. Although I am very frugal when it comes to dressing up my food there are a few herbs that I use regularly. Because I have dogs and a cat I prefer not to have to restrict them in my small garden, or to put up barriers. I also forget to go outside to collect the herbs…sigh.
Here is my solution – I planted cilantro, lemon balm, parsley, and mint in a container, in the window of my kitchen. It’s great! I threw some cilantro and lemon balm into the Vita-Mix together with celery, apple, and spinach, for my morning drink today.
I hope this gives you some inspiration – by the way: this window is north facing but there seems to be lots of light.
