We have a whole generation of children being brought up on television and videos, with images and motions that are extremely fast paced. Then they are expected to sit behind a desk for about 6 hours a day and concentrate their attention on a teacher who is either standing or sitting, mostly in one spot for long periods of time, no action packed adventure. These children then go home to the T.V. and video games again. They get bored in school. They are easily distracted. They have trouble focussing on the task at hand. They have a short attention span. They get impatient quickly. Can you blame them?

The mind is a wonderous and beautiful phenomenon. People don’t realize the horrific consequences of messing with it. My experience clinically is that kids treated with antidepressants and antipsychotics lose memory, are still unhappy, but they are stifled, quiet, easier to handle for the parents and the teachers. It’s very sad.
